Today’s kitchen tour features Stephanie Lau, a Brooklyn-based home cook who often posts roundups of her work-from-home lunches on Instagram. She grew up in Scarborough, Ontario, where she spent a lot of time going to her grandparents’ house after school. From there, she watched her mah mah cook traditional Cantonese food and test recipes she’d see on Fairchild TV (a Canadian Cantonese channel).
Stephanie started cooking for herself during university, but it wasn’t until the peak of the COVID lockdown that she had a lot more time to hone her cooking skills and try out new recipes. Eventually, she began documenting her meals and posting on Instagram, where she has amassed 22.4k followers.
In this interview, Stephanie shares her kitchen space, tools she can’t live without, pantry staples, and some of her favourite places to shop and eat in Brooklyn.
